![]() The Thompson being a submachine could only be a military issued weapon. UK firearms laws stipulates that any foreign made firearm held by the military or private indiviuals must have valid British or recognised international proof markings. This is further supported by the Crown over CP proof stamps on the right hand side of the receiver just below the deactivation proof marks and are those of the London Proof House. The known serial numbers were between S-153219 and S-274118, this example is S-185931. The serial number on the trigger assembly is within the known range of Thompson's that were delivered to the UK during WWII as part of the Lend Lease programme. This is a rare WWII Thompson 1928A1 that was issued to British forces.
